HOW TO BE IN THE MOMENT – Tip #12

 TIP #12
Once in a while, look up.

You'd think this would be a no-brainer, wouldn't you? But, if you're at all like me, it's like breathing. You take it for granted; you forget that, occasionally, it needs your attention. Haven't you ever concentrated so much on something—you know, that body-and-soul concentration where you shut out everything around you?—that you realized you'd been forgetting to breathe?

Well, it's the same thing with looking up. We get so focused on what's right in front of our noses, or what's going on inside our heads, we forget that, of the hemispherical reach of our vision, most of it—with all its wonders of wisp and wing, billow and beam—lies above eye level.

Interesting, because last night I went to bed with a meditation of breathing in deeply from the cosmic center, and then releasing the fresh breath of new energy and air into my environment. Well, during the night I dreamed for hours of inhaling deeply which was then smoothing my energy field and therefore the environment around me.

So simple, so lovely, so true.... It often is not the big things we forget but rather a whole collection of little things throughout our lives that we forget, until we even forget that we have forgotten them. They NEVER go away. That is the gift of Life. We can always remember them or reactivate them. Slowing down helps, taking time out without ANY electronic devices, books, and so on, really helps us to "re-member" with all that IS, to "re-member" with who we really are, always were, and always will be. Nature is a wonderful place to do this "re-membering", just sitting under a tree and looking up through its branches is a DIVINE way of doing this, or sitting barefoot on a smooth rock in the sun, or wading in a shallow stream. There are so many ways to "re-member" ourselves, to remember the inherent Divine gifts we are all given, that we all ARE. Much love to you dear soul, for the beautiful gifts you give us all. Robin ----- PS: I bet you thought I wasn't even reading your blog. But I do....and I love it.... :)

Bern - As I read your comment, I can picture you breathing that energy into the photo looking up in that cathedral of trees. Lovely dream!

My dear Robin -- What a delight to "see" you here! It means a lot to me that you appreciate my efforts -- whether you comment or not. By now, I feel I know you well enough to feel your presence in my life all the time.
Your comment is an eloquent reminder that experiencing wonder and joy is a subtractive, rather than additive, process. They're hard-wired into us, so instead of questing for them, all we have to do is start peeling back the layers of structure, stress & cynicism that conceal them.
